Battlefield 6 Players Agree: Missions Are Overly Demanding
The launch of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, particularly for its flagship multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, simultaneous player numbers surged to nearly 750,000. However, despite its popularity, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over several of the title's most difficult challenges, which are mandatory to access certain guns.
Gamers have begun turning to personalized games set up using Battlefield Portal to complete them, underscoring just how demanding these assignments have become.
Understanding Battlefield 6 Objectives
Missions serve as Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, different from the regularly refreshed everyday and weekly missions. It features four categories of assignments, but where most only reward outfits and select equipment, achieving the firearm tasks is the sole method of getting 12 of the 41 key firearms present in the game.
A number of these restricted firearms might eventually earn a place on lists of the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Player Outcry via Reddit
On Reddit, players are reasonably voicing their concerns about how challenging and repetitive several of these challenges are. One user emphasized one of the most extreme examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
- Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs
"This mission is so awful and completely out of mind, I want to scream in frustration," is a comment that illustrates just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many benefits in combat as it had in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.
Additionally, firing an LMG without aiming is extremely unreliable and is effective only at extremely close range, which is seldom the location you aim to be. The same user also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that task would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and the other way around.
Another Overly Demanding Challenge
A different forum member pointed out an additional excessively hard challenge, within the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:
- Achieve 150 headshot eliminations over 200m with long-range weapons
This is tough enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at that kind of range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but because there are just nine battlegrounds in the game right now, it restricts you to playing a specific urban map, another expansive area, and maybe an additional option if you're lucky if you aim to take long-range shots from beyond 200 meters.
The Workaround
There is a workaround though: Battlefield Portal. The Battlefield Portal is a system that permits you to make custom game modes on whatever map you choose, complete with bots. This means you can cheese the system… but it isn't truly in line with the intended gameplay experience.
Yet, if completing the missions in a normal session appears to work against fun, since you have to play in such an atypical style that doesn't benefit you or your team, is it surprising for finishing these in a private match so squad members are not disadvantaged?
Upcoming Tweaks
It won't come as a surprise if some of these assignments are made easier in the near future, because if they're not, certain gamers simply are unlikely to obtain the gated weapons.
Currently, the community continues to voice their opinions on these challenging multiplayer missions, anticipating a more balanced player experience in subsequent patches.
