I can't bank on a three-year period at Manchester United - the United boss

Manchester United head coach

The Manchester United coach - here being consoled following May's Europa League final defeat - notes he is satisfied by Sir Jim Ratcliffe's continued commitment but emphasized that tomorrow is uncertain in soccer.

United's manager the Portuguese coach thinks it is important the co-owner publicly shared his long-term thoughts - but notes nothing is assured about the future in the sport, never mind three seasons.

In an interview with The Times recently, Sir Jim said it could take Amorim three seasons to create substantial change at United's home ground.

Emerging in an era when Amorim's future has been under scrutiny after a prolonged run of unsatisfactory outcomes, the words contributed to reducing a portion of the current stress.

Yet, discussing prior to the hundredth encounter with traditional foes Liverpool at Anfield, the United boss stressed that what comes next is challenging to anticipate in the beautiful game.

"It's certainly beneficial to listen to that but he informs me all the time, periodically with words following matches - but you know, I realize and Jim knows, that the sport isn't that predictable," he said.

"The vital factor is the next game. Even with owners, you cannot dictate the next day in football."

Chief executive Omar Berrada has admitted it has taken far longer for the manager to adapt to the Premier League following his move from Sporting Lisbon last November than any person expected.

Manchester United have achieved 10 victories in 34 league games under the 40-year-old. They still haven't achieved back-to-back league wins and haven't finished a round of league games this season higher than ninth.

The dire statistics are stretching belief in Amorim among the United fanbase approaching a sequence of matches their team has struggled during for the past two seasons.

The manager stated he does not feel the instability inside the club at the team's practice complex and is adamant nothing compares to the expectation he applies to the squad - and in certain ways, he would prefer Ratcliffe to refrain from seeking to create tranquility because he fears the influence it may create on the players.

"It isn't merely an item of conversation, I experience it every day," he remarked. "It's certainly beneficial to receive it because it assists our supporters to comprehend the administration realize it needs a while.

"But at the same moment, I'm not fond of it because it creates an impression that we possess time to resolve issues. I don't wish for that sense in our organization.

"The pressure I put on the squad or on myself is significantly greater [than that from outside]. In soccer, specifically at large organizations, you need to prove yourself every matchday."
